Chicago Bears training camp certainly got off to a fiery start in 2026.
Bears head coach Ben Johnson and general manager Ryan Poles spoke with the media to kick things off. Poles started things, as he was asked about cornerback Kyler Gordon and him dealing with his soft-tissue injury. The Bears general manager talked about how Gordon has been feeling.
"Obviously, he's frustrated," Poles said via Chicago Tribune's Brad Biggs. "We're frustrated. Everybody here is putting there time and effort to getting him back."
Ben Johnson delivered different tone to Kyler Gordon question
Johnson next stepped up to the microphone to answer the Gordon question. The answer given from Johnson was a bit different of a tone than how Poles delivered his answer.
"Get healthy."
Ben Johnson was asked what his message to DB Kyler Gordon is:

Gordon only played three games last year due to that soft-tissue injury. He finished with seven tackles, one tackle for loss, one quarterback hit, one sack, and one fumble recovery.
It was shared during the press conference that Gordon has been in the Bears facilities trying to get healthy. He did not appear at OTAs and never practiced.
Johnson is clearly just as frustrated as Gordon is. It has to be getting to the point that Johnson is tired of addressing the same issue and wants his starting nickel corner back in the lineup.
There are a few options the Bears could use with the nickel position in Gordon's absence. Josh Blackwell has been listed as his backup. Chicago could look at rookie Malik Muhammad, Jaylon Jones, or Tyrique Stevenson in that role until Gordon gets better.

Gordon is starting training camp on the Active/Physically Unable to Perform list. The hope is he can get off soon, but he might be on it for awhile.
