Well, all that success from the 2025 season has resulted in the Chicago Bears losing key members of the staff, but this one might sting the most.

ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter reported that the Baltimore Ravens have hired Bears offensive coordinator Declan Doyle to the same position. Doyle spent only one season as the Bears' offensive coordinator after two seasons as the Denver Broncos' tight ends coach.

Despite this looking like a lateral move for Doyle, this is an upgrade for him. Bears head coach Ben Johnson has been the playcaller for Chicago's offense, while Doyle will now get the chance to call the plays in Baltimore. Doyle becomes the third member of the Bears to leave for another job after Ian Cunningham took the general manager job with the Atlanta Falcons and Eric Bieniemy landed the Kansas City Chiefs' offensive coordinator job.

Declan Doyle departs from Chicago to Baltimore

Doyle deserves a lot of credit for his work over the past year with the Bears. Even though Chicago is Johnson's offense, Doyle accomplished quite a bit in making sure that vision became a reality.

One thing Doyle did well was help develop star quarterback Caleb Williams, who broke a franchise record for passing yards in a season. He also helped improve the Bears' offense, moving it from dead last in 2024 to a top-five unit in 2025.

With Doyle out of the picture, the Bears are right back to square one with finding the right man to help run the offense. Johnson will have to move quickly, as all the coordinator positions are being filled and the candidate pool is starting to shrink.

There's always the possibility that Johnson could look internally for the offensive coordinator job, but Bears fans can assume that a plan is in place. It wasn't a surprise to the Bears to lose Doyle, as he is one of the top offensive minds in the NFL.

While the shock of losing Doyle will be met, Bears fans can't help but be happy for him as he moves up the coaching ladder quickly.
