The Chicago Bears have stayed awfully business on the transaction wire, as they continue to offset their injury issues on the roster.

After seeing Luther Burden III and Zavion Thomas hurt, it felt inevitable that the Bears would act. Burden is expected to be out for a month, and Thomas shouldn't be out as long.

Chicago's solution to the problem? They have announced the signing of wide receiver Ray-Ray McCloud III. The Bears also released wide receiver Kyron Hudson with an injury designation.

Bears turning to Ray-Ray McCloud III to help them in training camp

McCloud is a former sixth-round pick of the Buffalo Bills from back in 2018. He's been able to put together a productive nine-year NFL career with now seven teams.

Last year, McCloud played for the Atlanta Falcons and the New York Giants. In six games between the two teams, he caught seven passes for 69 yards and had four kickoff returns for 91 yards.

Throughout his NFL career, McCloud has been better known as a return specialist, going over 300 receiving yards in a season one time with the Falcons in 2024, posting 686 yards. He has proven himself to be a solid slot receiver who is dependable on third down.

He will be the man who will replace Thomas as a return specialist for the Bears. McCloud could see some time as a slot receiver, but most likely won't be doing that with Kalif Raymond and Jahdae Walker there.

The Bears will lean on Rome Odunze and Colston Loveland in the pass game for the time being. Raymond and Walker could also see their roles increase. Kaden Davis has been a standout at training camp over the last week, so expect his role to pick up with the starters.

McCloud is going to be a nice role player for the Bears and should be able to make an impact right away. The chances of him making the team are slim unless the injuries to Thomas and Burden are worse than expected. It all comes down to what kind of returning McCloud is because if he is electric, that might be hard to ignore.

This Bears team is just focused on staying healthy for the rest of training camp. They hope this will be the last of the moves.
