For the Chicago Bears' franchise history, the 2026 season could be a massive one for quarterback Caleb Williams.

Last season, Williams already made history by breaking the franchise record for passing yards in a season with 3,942. Many believe he can be the one who finally gives Chicago its first 4,000-yard passer in franchise history.

There is another piece of history Bears fans will have to watch out for as the 2026 season approaches. Williams is currently ninth on the all-time list for career passing yards in Bears history with 7,483, but he has a strong chance of getting even closer to that number one spot.

Watch out Jim Harbaugh, Caleb Williams is chasing right behind you

The first major milestone for Williams in 2026 is to get 3,127 yards on the season. That is an important number, as it means Williams will pass former starting quarterback Mitch Trubisky to land at fifth on the all-time passing yards list.

Ultimately, the goal for Williams should be getting 4,085 yards, which would shatter his own franchise record for passing yards in one season. It will also help Williams pass current Los Angeles Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh on the Bears' all-time passing yards list.

Most Bears fans anticipate that Williams will eventually be the all-time leading passer in the franchise's history. His current pace has him breaking the record in seven years, but if Williams can consistently go over 4,000 yards, that might close the gap in five or six years in his career.

It's an important stat for Bears fans to have broken, as the franchise has been notorious for not having the best starting quarterbacks on the team. For so many years, they struggled to find the right guy and had to settle for quarterbacks like Trubisky, Jay Cutler, and Rex Grossman when fans knew there were better ones out there.

Williams is also in a class of his own as the argument could be made that he is the best quarterback the Bears have ever had from a talent perspective. His arm talent and ability to make any kind of throw is something no other Bears quarterback has ever had.

There may be pressure on Williams to produce at an MVP level, but he has already surpassed so many Bears QBs in the past, as the next few years will be icing on the cake for fans.
