Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams had a breakout 2025 season with hopes of continuing his upward trend in his career.

Williams finished with 3,942 yards and 27 touchdowns to seven interceptions last year. He led an NFL record seven comebacks and game-winning drives for the Bears in 2025.

With his status getting close to being elite, Williams wanted to make sure he kept up the trend he was on. He spoke with the media after the first day of training camp practice to share what change he made that will help him out.

"Caleb Williams says he lost 10-15 pounds this offseason and feels he’ll be able to move better and faster," ESPN NFL reporter Courtney Cronin said regarding Williams' answer. "A combination of eating clean, not eating past 7 p.m. and focusing on sleep is how the QB was able to shed weight."

Caleb Williams' diet is helping him out, but it should be a warning to the NFL

An aspect of Williams' game that isn't talked about as often is that he is mobile and can turn on the jets when running the football. In his rookie season in 2024, he rushed for 489 yards, and last year he rushed for 388 yards.

He can use his mobility to help him run out of the pocket and either throw on the run or take the ball himself. Williams often wants to throw the football, but what he told the media makes it feel like he could run the football more often.

NFL defenses already have trouble trying to defend Williams in the pocket, so the idea that he's getting lighter and can move faster is not good for them. It certainly opens things up for Williams and the Bears' offense, knowing that they have a QB who can move better.

Chicago's offense continues to look poised to be dominant in 2026, but Williams' comments suddenly made them look even more dangerous.
