Everyone seems to have their opinions about Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams trying to trademark the "Iceman" nickname.
After a trademark was filed for it, former NBA player George Gervin responded by filing his own trademark, since that was his nickname. Sports commentator Skip Bayless took to X to share his thoughts on the situation.
"I’m a Caleb Williams fan. But I was a much bigger Iceman Gervin fan, and I’m offended Caleb and Co. are trying to steal George’s all-time great nickname. I unleash on today’s Arena Gridiron 2:30 E."
Caleb Williams responded to Skip Bayless's comments
That's when things got really interesting, as, after those comments were made, Williams fired right back on X by reposting his own post. Williams was not happy with what Bayless had to say, as he posted an image of what the definition of "steal" is.
Idc about where your fandom stands. I was trying give you and everyone else the benefit of the doubt. About knowing business and being smart about it. But I guess not. Foolish of me! Also words matter Skip Bayless. “Steal” Enjoy that podcast.
Williams has every right to file the trademark since no one has done it before. To call it "stealing" is a stretch, as Williams is only trying to take advantage of a great nickname given to him and do so legally.
There might be too many people who could claim that "Iceman" is their nickname as well, so it might not be easy for Williams to get it. Everyone should calm down, though, as the young quarterback has done nothing wrong and is within his rights to try to trademark it.

Williams doesn't get enough credit for being a business-savvy man for his work with the soccer team he owns and all the activities he does off the field. It'll be interesting if this is a battle he can win, but all Bears fans can at least smile that Williams didn't put up with Bayless's comments.
