Everyone is still feeling the high from the Chicago Bears' success in 2025, but quarterback Caleb Williams is really about to earn a big payday from it.
While the Bears might be a year or two away from having to give Williams a massive contract extension, the rising star quarterback is finding other ways to collect money for his success. Trademark attorney Josh Gerben shared that Williams filed new trademark applications to protect his nickname "Iceman" and the silhouette of his iconic throw in the win over the Green Bay Packers in their playoff matchup.
Williams received the "Iceman" nickname after being clutch in multiple NFL games throughout the season, as he led an NFL-record seven comeback and game-winning drives during the regular season and the playoffs. The silhouette is from the fourth quarter, when Williams made a fourth-and-15 throw to Rome Odunze to keep their playoff hopes alive, helping complete the 18-point comeback to win the game.
Caleb Williams filing trademarks on two moments from 2025
If anything, this should show how truly special the 2025 season was for the Bears that Williams found two things from the year that he can trademark. That's how good their 11-6 campaign was for the Bears.
There shouldn't be any problems with the silhouette of the throw to Odunze, since that is him actually making the throw. That's easily a moment that can be put on t-shirts, and Bears fans will eat up buying them.
Iceman, on the other hand, might be more challenging. Most people attach that nickname to Val Kilmer's character in the movie "Top Gun," so Williams might have more of a challenge with that one.
Williams has proven himself to be a smart businessman and knows when to capitalize on his success. He's also a co-investor in the Boston Legacy FC soccer team in the National Women's Soccer League.
