*Editor's note: Since the article's publication, safety Cam Lewis was also injured and carted off the field with a lower body injury.
The nightmare of all the injuries from the Chicago Bears' training camp this week continues to be a never-ending storyline.
Throughout the week, Coby Bryant was ruled out for eight to 10 weeks with his injury. Then, Braxton Jones and Montez Sweat were also injured with what are believed to be minor injuries. Two more Bears defensive backs were hurt, leading to the Bears signing three safeties to the team.
Saturday's training camp didn't end things there. Oh no, it got worse. Two starters got hurt in the same drill.
Bears now dealing with injuries to Tyrique Stevenson and Luther Burden
Yes. The above title is correct. Stevenson and Burden both got hurt and had to be checked out by the trainer. The Athletic's Dan Wiederer detailed what happened.
"A one-on-one red zone battle claimed both Tyrique Stevenson and Luther Burden this morning. Stevenson appeared to be in more pain (right hip or tailbone?) but returned to practice. Burden limped away from the practice fields with the trainer. (The pass was incomplete)."
Stevenson's injury could not be happening at a worse time. Kyler Gordon and Elijah Hicks are already out, and the Bears lost three other defensive backs to injuries.
Before training camp started, rookie Malik Muhammad was expected to compete with Stevenson for the CB2 job. Then, with Gordon being hurt, Muhammad was moved to the slot and is trying to win that job until Gordon is back.
The Burden injury is worrisome since he is poised to have a breakout season. There has been a ton of buzz about how great he has looked at OTAs and training camp throughout the last few months.
DJ Moore is no longer in Chicago, so the Bears are leaning on Burden to be the WR2 while Rome Odunze moves up to WR1. If Burden is out, that puts pressure on Kalif Raymond, rookie Zavion Thomas, and Jahdae Walker to step up in his place.

Nothing seems to be getting any better, as there is an unusually large number of injuries occurring at Bears training camp. It is starting to seem like they are in a similar situation to last year, with Jaylon Johnson and Gordon being hurt. Let's hope the Bears have a backup plan if things do go south with Stevenson and Burden.
