2026 is a big season for Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams, with high expectations already being put on the third-year signal-caller.
Williams is coming off a fantastic 2025 season, throwing for a franchise-record 3,942 yards and 27 touchdowns to just seven interceptions. He led an NFL-record seven comebacks and game-winning drives to spark an 11-6 record, NFC North title, and playoff win over the Green Bay Packers.
Many Bears fans are excited to see his encore performance this season, but how much will he actually improve from last year? Well, Bears running back D'Andre Swift had the answer to that, and quite frankly, it's scary as hell to think about.
D'Andre Swift made a bold statement about Caleb Williams at Bears training camp
Swift had a chance to talk to the media for the first time at Bears training camp, where he talked about Williams. The veteran back called Williams the most improved teammate.
"Just seeing his poise right now and his process," Swift said via ESPN Bears reporter Courtney Cronin. "I get there pretty early, so I see the little things he's doing on the daily in his second year in the system. I just like his approach right now and his focus."
Holy smokes. If that is not a clear warning to the rest of the NFL, what else could it be?
Williams has all the physical traits to be a great NFL quarterback. From the incredible throws he made week after week last year to his athletic ability, it's hard not to see him as one of the best quarterbacks in the league.
What also makes Williams different from most of the signal-callers in the league is his mental game. He has that clutch gene that shows that no moment is too big for him. Last season showed how Williams kept his composure a lot better when things weren't going well in games.
Everyone always wants to talk about last year's 58% completion percentage, and yes, that's not a great stat. There was a combination of things that went into that, including drops from the wide receivers that would have put him around 65%.
The best part about Williams' game is his ability to keep the Bears' offense out of bad positions. 13 interceptions in his first two seasons show that he is doing everything in his power to avoid being the reason the Bears are losing games.
