The Chicago Bears have now been in training camp for seven days, and it appears all systems are a go.
Injuries have ruined some of the momentum of camp, but the players are fighting on and showing good progress. Both offense and defense are playing well enough to give confidence that they can make another run for the playoffs in 2026.
Still, the position battles are getting intense, and even some position battles that weren't being talked about are now a thing. Who is winning the big ones, and which ones still need time to develop?
Which Bears position battles are going on at training camp and which are over?
Center - Already Over
Garrett Bradbury is getting way too much praise from everyone to feel like this is even a position battle anymore. Rookie second-round pick Logan Jones might end up being a great NFL center, but right now, Bradbury has him beat in training camp. It would be an expected outcome, though, as Bradbury is seen as the temporary solution for 2026 and Jones is the long-term solution starting in 2027.
Left Tackle - Raging On
Kiran Amegadjie is now getting just as many opportunities to be the left tackle as Braxton Jones is, leaving some Bears fans confused about the job. Jedrick Wills is also in the conversation, but it feels like Jones and Amegadjie are the top two contenders. Jones still feels like the favorite at the end of the day, but Amegadjie is certainly giving him a run for his money.
WR3 - Already Over
Kalif Raymond is making enough plays to be fairly confident he'll win this position battle pretty handily. Jahdae Walker and Zavion Thomas are also making plays, but Raymond seems to be ahead of them. Even if all three end up making the same amount of plays in training camp, the experienced Raymond would get the edge.
Nickel - Raging On
This is a new battle no one saw coming, but Kyler Gordon's soft-tissue injury is making it a thing now. There are three guys battling for the job at this point: Jaylon Jones, Josh Blackwell, and rookie fourth-round pick Malik Muhammad. Don't expect a final verdict on this one until Week 1, when hopefully the Bears can report that Gordon is back, but who knows.
CB2 - Already Over
This one is by default, but yeah, Tyrique Stevenson appears to be the winner. With Muhammad moving over to nickel to try his hand at taking over for the injured Gordon, that will give Stevenson full control of the job. It's a shame that a battle won't happen, but Stevenson now has his shot to prove himself in 2026.

Long Snapper - Raging On
Luke Elkin and Beau Gardner continue to battle for the long snapper job with no clear winner yet. This one won't be decided until the final day of training camp. It'll be interesting to see how they both do during the preseason games.
