Everyone has their own way of reacting to big news in their lives, but one new Chicago Bears draft pick is taking some criticism for how he reacted for a moment that changed his life forever.
Bears' new fourth-round pick, Texas cornerback Malik Muhammad, is going viral for a video that showed his reaction, or lack thereof, when he heard his name called as the next selection in the NFL Draft. Muhammad felt the need to respond in a post clarifying his excitement for joining Chicago.
"In light of my draft night video going viral, I wanted to take a moment to address it. Hearing my name called was a dream come true. I was overhelmed with excitement and emotion. I'm beyond grateful for the opportunity and ready to continue my career at the highest level. I can't wait to get to work and do everything I can to make the city of Chicago proud. Thank you to the Bears organization! #BearDown"
Bears fans are making their feelings known to Malik Muhammad
While clarifying how he feels was not necessary, it was a great testament to the character of Muhammad. He had no reason to defend himself, as everyone understood how big a moment it was for him.
Bears fans made sure he knew that, too, as most comments in response to his statement were negative. Many fans are making sure they know they support him, and he did not have to defend himself.
Muhammad continues to make himself a new fan favorite, from his comments about being an old-school player to admitting he watches game tape of Bears cornerback Jaylon Johnson to learning a thing or two from Chicago legend Charles "Peanut" Tillman. Everything that Muhammad has done and said so far continues to support the case that Bears general manager Ryan Poles and head coach Ben Johnson made the right call in selecting him.

Now that Bears fans know the type of character he is, they are eager to see how Muhammad does on the field. If he can outplay Tyrique Stevenson and become an elite corner in the league, he won't ever have to worry about that draft day moment again.
