Bears fans hoping for one specific move just got dealt a big fat ‘nope’

Not ideal.

For the better part of three years, the Chicago Bears have still been lacking in one key area. In the midst of their defensive struggles last year, outside of taking the ball away, the one area that continues to stand out is in the pass rush department.

So, when you ask a Bears fan, right now, where the team still needs to add more talent, you wouldn't be hard-pressed to find nine out of 10 who first answer in that very same area. But, for fans who are hoping for one more offseason move, The Chicago Tribune's own beat reporter, Brad Biggs, has some bad news.

Appearing on 104.3 The Score this morning, Biggs was asked this very same question. Will the Bears go out and make another move at defensive end?

“I think they’re going to look under rocks and see what’s out there and be open for possibilities. But that guy’s not available. No solution is out there right now.”

There's "no solution" out there right now? Really? None?

Brad Biggs' Bears nugget crosses a major trade candidate off the list for Ryan Poles

This answer, from Biggs, is curious for one big reason as far as I can think of: this would mean the New York Giants are truly not entertaining offers for Kayvon Thibodeaux.

Even before the 2026 NFL Draft, there were lingering whispers and questions around whether or not the Giants would finally trade Thibodeaux. They, of course, have Brian Burns and Abdul Carter there as well.

But then, they went and drafted Arvell Reese. Now, at least right away, Reese isn't going to line up with his hand in the dirt. So, there are currently starting spots available to all three of those guys.

Yet, Thibodeaux is still left as a reserve.

But, according to Biggs, he wouldn't be an option.

I still find this somewhat hard to believe. Thibodeaux is entering the final year of his rookie contract. The Giants aren't doing him any favors if he continues to operate as the third pass rusher on his own team. Next year, teams that want to sign him as a free agent are going to feel as though they're still banking on his draft billing and/or potential.

But, if the Giants traded him to a team like the Bears, they very well could get a second-round pick. And that, folks, is a win for the Giants. New York isn't going to keep him around after 2026, so why not trade him?

Aside from Thibodeaux, the Bears do still have other options available in free agency. Maybe the best is longtime New Orleans Saints pass rusher Cameron Jordan. But again, if Biggs' words are to be believed at face value, then this also rules out Jordan.

Do the Bears not see someone like Jordan as a better option than Dayo Odeyingbo or Austin Booker? That can't be.

Maybe, they've checked into Jordan and the veteran isn't interested in Chicago.

That would be hard to believe, especially with the connection to Dennis Allen. But, all we can do is try to piece things together, here.

The moral of the story, in the end, is that Biggs does not believe the Bears are going to add another pass rusher. So, Bears fans, get ready to hope for the best from the current room.
