Bears fans' slim hopes of Cameron Jordan-Dennis Allen reunion just crashed

That was fun while it lasted.

At one point, Chicago Bears fans had thoughts of seeing defensive end Cameron Jordan reunite with his former defensive coordinator and head coach Dennis Allen, but that can't happen anymore.

Jordan announced he was coming back to the New Orleans Saints on a one-year deal, and it will be his final in the NFL. During his NFL career, Jordan has been selected to eight Pro Bowls and is a three-time All-Pro.

There were many publications that tried to tie Jordan and the Bears together due to the Allen connection. The Bears also had a need at defensive end after an offseason of no one being signed at the position.

Cameron Jordan is no longer an option for the Bears, but that was never going to happen

Let's face it: Jordan was never going to play for the Bears. He wants to finish his career in New Orleans where he started. Plus, the feelings probably were not recipicated between how fans felt and how Bears general manager Ryan Poles felt about adding Jordan.

The Bears have not seem particularly interested in adding anyone at the position as they want to stick to who they have. They seem content with sticking with who they have right now with Montez Sweat, Austin Booker, Dayo Odeyingbo, and Shemar Turner coming off the edge.

Sweat is the only one that gives fans 100% confidence he can get the job done. The Bears seem high on Booker and head coach Ben Johnson was happy about Odeyingbo back practicing with the team after his injury last year. Turner leaves much to be desired after still recovering from his ACL injury.

Jordan might be off the board, but the Bears are sticking with their guys and seem content with them going into training camp next month.
