The Chicago Bears lost to the Los Angeles Rams in the Divisional Round in one of the narrowest of ways that you can lose a game.
That team lost on a last-second field goal in overtime, and they had a chance with the ball to put the game away. A Caleb Williams interception on their only drive of overtime would be the defining factor in the loss.
Most Bears fans can relive every play in their mind, but Sheil Kapadia of The Ringer was kind enough to spell it out for everyone. When you break it down like this, it stings even more.
So many missed opportunities for Bears:

4th-and-2 fail --> INT
3rd-and-1, 4th-and-1 fail --> TO on downs
3rd-and-1 fail --> Punt
1st-and-goal from Rams' 5 --> TO on downs
Ball at Rams' 48 in OT --> INT
The Chicago Bears will be left wondering what if after missed opportunities
What is going to hurt is that many of those plays were in field goal range. Most fans will think that if Ben Johnson had simply made one or two more field goals, the team would have won. Funnily enough, if they were in third and four or five, a little more than just needing one yard, they also would have walked away with the victory.
This is a team that fights for every last yard and stays aggressive, but in this game, both things wound up hurting them. It's easy to say they should have taken the points, but the reality is that better calls or execution would have helped as well.
First, a lot of their short yardage was simply running at the Rams. Chicago was the underdog in this game, meaning most saw them with the lesser roster. The team may have tried to get a little more creative in those spots rather than assuming they can physically win.
Still, the Bears signed three offensive linemen this offseason and have been leaning on the group all year. In some regards, you just need the men upfront to get a better push, and things would have gone better. One last note Kapadia did not mention is kicking the extra point rather than going for two, although that would have been riskier than any other decision at the time.

Even with all of their missed chances, the team still had the ball around midfield with one or two completions to go before they had a game-winning field goal attempt. Bears fans will be disappointed with the outcome, realize how close they came, and appreciate what a fun ride it was and what a good team they were.
