Mock draft season continues to roll on, and Chicago Bears fans are eager to see who they will end up getting with over two months until the 2026 NFL Draft.
NFL Draft expert Daniel Jeremiah released his second mock draft of the year. With the 25th overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, Jeremiah predicts the Bears will be selecting Clemson Tigers defensive tackle Peter Woods.
"Teams seem to be all over the map on how they rank this year’s defensive tackles. Woods probably is the most explosive of the group and brings some juice on the interior."
Daniel Jeremiah has Bears taking Peter Woods
Woods was a first-team All-ACC selection in 2025 after posting the best numbers of his college career with 30 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, two sacks, and one pass deflection in 12 games. During his three-year college career, Woods racked up 84 tackles, 14.5 tackles for loss, five sacks, two forced fumbles, and one pass deflection.
The one thing the Bears struggled with on defense was getting consistent play from the defensive line. They struggled to stop the run and finished with only 35 sacks, with six teams recording fewer than the Bears did all season.
Chicago put a lot of money into the line with Grady Jarrett and Dayo Odeyingbo, who each got over $40 million contracts, but neither one has paid off. The Bears must get better on the line, and Woods could develop into a Day 1 starter and eventually replace Jarrett when his time is up.
While some Bears fans might argue that an edge rusher or someone in the secondary might be the play in the first round, the defensive tackle position needs help. It will be whoever is the best available defensive player for the Bears to pick, and based on Jeremiah's selections, Woods would fit that bill.

This is an important draft for the Bears as they have to hit multiple home runs on defense after getting it right on offense last year. The talent level on defense in the draft makes it hard for the Bears to mess it up.
