Everyone is talking about Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams and what kind of quarterback he'll become.

Many are wondering whether Williams will become the elite quarterback fans expect him to be after his stellar performance last year. Former NFL defensive tackle and current NFL Network analyst Gerald McCoy shared his bold prediction on Williams during his interview with Roto Grinders' Kyle Odegard.

"Caleb is immensely talented," McCoy said. "He's almost overly-talented, what he can do throwing a football and what he can do with his legs. As soon as he gets to the point where he can relax and learn how to simplify the game, Caleb Williams will be the best quarterback in the NFL. Yes, I just said it. He's that talented."

Will Caleb Williams end up being the best quarterback in the NFL?

That noise is growing louder, with many believing Williams will be an elite quarterback for a long time. The traits are no doubt there and getting hard to ignore.

Last year was a good stepping stone to getting there, with nearly 4,000 yards and 27 touchdowns to seven interceptions. He showed off his versatility as well, scoring three touchdowns on the ground and catching another one.

His arm talent is one that most quarterbacks, aside from Patrick Mahomes, are just not able to make consistently. If fans watched the multiple throws he made that were off-balance or scrambling out of the pocket, they would see something they have not seen before. That happened week after week late in the season when the Bears needed him the most.

An underrated trait about Williams is how clutch he is in the biggest moments. He led an NFL-record seven comebacks and game-winning drives during the regular season and playoffs.

Entering the 2026 season, Williams has some things he needs to work on to become the elite quarterback everyone expects him to be. The biggest being that he needs to be more accurate than the 58% completion percentage he had last year. One other thing is that he needs to do the small things right and not always have to rely on the wild plays to win a game; something that Bears quarterbacks coach J.T. Barrett has looked for in his young QB.

This is a big year for Williams to prove all the haters wrong and earn his stripes as an elite player in the NFL, and he could very well see himself as the top quarterback in the league by the end of the season.
