It was only a walkthrough to kick off practice for the Wild Card showdown against the Green Bay Packers, but the Chicago Bears are looking solid with the first injury report released.

Starting with the bad news, three players did not work out for the Bears. Those names include cornerback C.J. Gardner-Johnson (concussion), defensive lineman Joe Tryon-Shoyinka (concussion), and wide receiver Jahdae Walker (illness).

Now, for the good news: six remaining players practiced. The biggest names were cornerback Kyler Gordon (groin) and wide receiver Rome Odunze (foot), who were both limited. Here is how the six players were designated:

  • Kyler Gordon, CB (Groin, Limited)
  • DJ Moore, WR (Knee, Limited)
  • Rome Odunze, WR (Foot, Limited)
  • Ozzy Trapilo, OL (Quad, Limited)
  • Braxton Jones, OL (Knee, Full)
  • Nick McCloud, CB (Illness, Full)

Bears might be at full strength vs. Packers for the first time in 2025

All eyes will be on Gordon and Oduzne to see if they will play in the game. Every indication given is that Odunze will be good to play. Gordon, along with Jones, had their 21-day practice windows open, so if Gardner-Johnson can't get through concussion protocol this week, Gordon might be forced to jump in and take a chance on the groin injury sooner than maybe the Bears want him to.

The other focus will be on the offensive line, with Trapilo missing the season finale loss to the Detroit Lions with a knee and quad injury, but it appears to be down to just the quad. Jones adds some insurance in case Trapilo is unable to play in the Wild Card game.

With Odunze hurt and Walker not practicing with the illness, Moore's injury becomes a little more critical as one of the team's leading receivers. The hope is that Moore will be able to practice more as the week goes on.

The Bears are looking really solid so far as they want to see more of Gordon and Odunze practicing and get the full starting lineup back for the first time this season.
