Bears just lost their best Drew Dalman replacement before free agency starts

That's not ideal.

The Chicago Bears did not have much time to digest the loss of center Drew Dalman after he told the team that he was going to retire from the NFL, but their options are already falling apart.

Many thought that the Bears could be in the running for Baltimore Ravens free agent center Tyler Linderbaum. They were also considering looking at former Washington Commanders center Tyler Biadasz, who was scheduled to visit Chicago.

NFL insider Ian Rapoport reported that Biadasz is officially off the table as he is going to sign a three-year, $30 million contract with the Los Angeles Chargers. Biadasz was a Pro Bowler back in 2022 with the Dallas Cowboys, but has spent the last two seasons in Washington.

Bears must consider another option at center after losing Tyler Biadasz

While it isn't the biggest loss in the world for the Bears, it's still a top player that they no longer have as an option. Free agency still has plenty of players Chicago can go after to be the new starter in place of Dalman.

Buffalo Bills center Connor McGovern will be getting a lot of looks from teams in free agency to be their new starter, with the Bills not being seen as a real contender, with very little talk happening between the two sides. Carolina Panthers center Cade Mays is considered an underrated choice to go to the Bears.

The Bears also have the option to look at the 2026 NFL Draft. If Chicago wants to look at Day 3 for a pick, Iowa center Logan Jones is a solid option after being the nation's best center last year and running the fastest 40 time at the NFL Combine among the offensive linemen with a 4.9-second run.

Chicago will have to go back to the drawing board and decide whether the Bears want to spend the money on Linderbaum or look elsewhere.
