Nothing has been more annoying for Chicago Bears fans than following the news about the new stadium and its location.
The most recent update was that the city of Chicago was going to oppose the new stadium bill to block it from being built in Arlington Heights, which, if that happens, will open the door for Hammond, Indiana, to get the $5 billion dome stadium, but the intention might be for Chicago to try to keep it. Well, the Bears released another statement to clarify who is in the running for the stadium.
"The Chicago Bears have exhausted every opportunity to stay in Chicago, which was our initial goal. There is not a viable site in the city. As a result, the only sites under consideration are in Arlington Heights and Hammond."
Bears make it clear it's between Arlington Heights and Hammond
If Bears fans are being honest, this statement was unnecessary, as everyone has known for the last month-plus that these were the only two choices. This feels more like a slight against Chicago, since they have not been working well with the team on the situation.
One concern could be the lease situation at Soldier Field, which has reportedly been a topic of discussion between the team and the city of Chicago. If the situation gets any uglier than it already has, would it be possible for the Bears to be kicked out of the city before the lease is up and the new stadium is built?
It has felt like Illinois, in general, has been feeling the pressure of losing the Bears, as a lot of commentary and conversation have been on TV and in print about this situation. Bears fans have seen the governor call out the mayor of Chicago for not having a plan, and other politicians trying to stop the new bill from passing.

This situation has been a mess from the beginning, and it is increasingly looking like Hammond will be the choice, which, if that happens, will leave Illinois feeling the heat from its taxpayers for a long time.
