Bears' offensive trio ranking shows they should have chip on their shoulders

They should be higher than that.

Everyone agrees they love the potential of the Chicago Bears' offense, but there is some hesitancy to give them their due.

Last season was a good start for the Bears' offense, as they transformed from one of the NFL's worst units in 2024 to one of the best. They were ranked sixth in total offense and third in rushing, thanks to Bears head coach Ben Johnson and his work with young quarterback Caleb Williams.

CBS Sports writer Jared Dubin was also impressed with the Bears after going through his rankings of the NFL's top offensive triplets. Dubin ranked the Bears higher than last year, but still low from the fans' perspective, putting them at 13 with Williams, running back D'Andre Swift, and tight end Colston Loveland as the choices.

"The Bears are big risers, climbing nine spots. Williams was considerably better in Year 2 than he was in Year 1, slashing his sack rate while keeping interceptions to a minimum and seeing a spike in his touchdown rate. Swift showed improvement in his first season under Ben Johnson, while Loveland is a popular breakout candidate after he showed a ton of promise down the stretch of his rookie season. Hopes are clearly very high for this group."

Should the Bears' offense get more love than what they are getting?

Williams had a great season with the Bears despite having only a 58% completion percentage. He scored 31 total touchdowns, throwing, running, and catching the football, while leading an NFL record seven comebacks and game-winning drives. Oh, and he broke the franchise record for passing yards in a season with 3,942.

Swift had a career year himself with 1,087 yards and nine touchdowns, averaging 4.9 yards per carry. He had to split reps with rookie standout Kyle Monangai, but that didn't stop the veteran from having a great season and buying himself another season in Chicago.

Loveland had a slow start to the season, but came on strong and was Williams' favorite target by the end of the year. Among the receivers, Loveland led the way with 713 yards and six touchdowns.

These three together are way more dangerous than what the Bears are getting credit for. This is a clear case of them still having to prove themselves to the rest of the NFL, as the league doesn't completely trust their success yet. One year is too soon for them to jump on the bandwagon.

The NFL can keep sleeping on this team and the weapons on offense. Soon enough, the Bears will really shine in Johnson's offense when the 2026 season starts.
