Everyone around the NFL media space is sharing their trade proposals they would come up with, and the Chicago Bears have been no exception to that, as they are at the center of a lot of potential moves.
Bleacher Report writer Kristopher Knox shared seven trades that would shake up the NFL, along with their impact. Knox has one where the Bears would send tight end Cole Kmet to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in exchange for a 2026 fifth-round pick.
"Cole Kmet is yet another talented pass-catcher who could be on the move this offseason. The Chicago Bears tight end has topped 500 receiving yards in three of his six seasons. However, he saw a reduced role in 2025 after the Bears used a first-round pick on Colston Loveland. Loveland led the Bears with 713 receiving yards this past season, while Kmet recorded 347 receiving yards. Chicago faces a projected cap deficit of $10.7 million and could save $8.4 million in cap space by trading Kmet before March 15. While Kmet's role might not justify his price point to the Bears, the 26-year-old should interest plenty of other tight-end-needy teams."
Bears would certainly shake things up with a Cole Kmet trade to Tampa Bay
Chicago is in the red and has a lot of work to do to get back in the black. The good news is that they have room to make about $85 million more if they restructure a bunch of contracts. While that is not realistic, the next option after restructuring a few contracts is to start trading players away.
The Bears will have options as their young core of players, like Kyle Monangai, Luther Burden, and Loveland from last year's NFL Draft class, will give them more room to trade or cut their expensive veterans. Some of the biggest names who have been part of those talks include D'Andre Swift, DJ Moore, and Kmet.
One aspect of the Kmet trade to the Buccaneers that would be tough for Bears fans to accept is that they only get a fifth-round pick. They would love to get more value out of the deal, but it's more about saving money than anything else.

This deal would be huge because Tampa Bay would get better on offense, and the Bears would officially signal their youth movement on the roster. Chicago might have no choice but to consider a trade with Kmet so that they have money to fix other needs, like at defensive end.
