Welcome back to what seems like the never-ending storyline of what's going to happen between the Chicago Bears and the two choices for their new $5 billion dome stadium.

It's down to two choices between Arlington Heights, Illinois, and Hammond, Indiana. Both states have worked on bills to be passed to have the stadium in their locations. ESPN Bears reporter Courtney Cronin shared an update on the new meeting between Bears leadership and the NFL's Stadium Committee, which discussed the two potential sites.

"Per source, the committee members agreed that these 2 sites are the only viable options and expressed a need to move the process forward "expeditiously." There was no vote taken but the Stadium Committee will meet again within 2 weeks. Source says that the committee also acknowledged the Illinois legislature needs to continue to work to move the process forward, which will now require the PILOT bill to move through the senate."

Bears and NFL met regarding new stadium update

The NFL side of the storyline is that they want to have a resolution to this as soon as possible. NFL commissioner Roger Goodell has mentioned publicly that he wants a quick conclusion so the league can move forward.

As for the Bears, they are simply looking for the best possible deal, even though most Bears fans want them to stay in Illinois. Last week, the Illinois House voted to advance the megaprojects bill to the Senate, where it is expected to be amended.

Despite what happened, the Bears have been very clear that more has been done on Illinois' side, but they have not gotten everything they need. Illinois most likely will have to update the bill if they want the Bears to go for it.

The hope is that this will come to an end soon enough, but it appears more steps are needed to reach that point.
