Chicago Bears wide receiver Rome Odunze left many people confused by what he recently said about his foot injury.
During OTAs, he called his healed foot the 'new normal' and had to make adjustments to how he was running on it. Well, he had a chance to talk to the media and clarify what he meant by it after some confusion.
"I know 'new normal,' that has a bunch of connotations of like chronic and severe, like, never going to be the same," Odunze said via The Score's Chris Emma. "It's not like that at all. Like, I'm completely fine."

Odunze missed the last five games of the regular season after trying to play with his foot injury. While he did come back in the playoffs, he was not the same player Bears fans were hoping he would be. He finished the year with 44 receptions for 661 yards and six touchdowns.
Before the injury, Odunze was pacing to hit over 1,000 yards for the first time in the Caleb Williams era and looked great. Everything seemed to be finally coming together, but the foot injury derailed everything.
Now it feels like more than ever that Odunze is poised for a career season with the Bears in Year 3. DJ Moore got traded, which should give Odunze more targets in the passing game.
The only thing that might slow it up is Luther Burden III getting a lot of buzz around him. Some believe Burden might end up being WR1 over Odunze.
While Burden might have the speed, Odunze can do it all at receiver. He's got good speed, great hands, and can Moss a player to get the football. Odunze truly has the perfect combination of being a great wide receiver.

Bears fans should be pumped about the potential that Odunze brings to the table in 2026. As long as he can stay healthy throughout the season, he might be ready to take the leap Chicago needs him to.
