The Chicago Bears made a lot of changes to their roster in the 2026 offseason. So, the question now is, how much better is their roster? For a team that finished in the top eight last season and was very young last year, most would expect improvement. Pro Football Focus does not, though.Â
Mason Cameron of Pro Football Focus did his NFL power rankings after the first two weeks of free agency. He does not have the Bears in the top ten, let alone the top 12. He has them on the fringe of the first half of the league, ranked 15th overall.Â
"The retirement of center Drew Dalman and the trade of D.J. Moore, combined with a deep list of pending free agents on defense, set the stage for a busy offseason in Chicago. Trading for Garrett Bradbury filled the need left by Dalman at center, and the signings of Coby Bryant and Devin Bush addressed the voids on defense left by the departures of Kevin Byard and Tremaine Edmunds. Are the Chicago Bears being disrespected in recent NFL power rankingsÂ
There are two clear ways to look at it. One, it is fair that on paper, they got worse in free agency. They still have a hole at safety; they did not fix their defensive line; they lost a starting center and a legitimate wide receiver on offense; and their left tackle position is still in flux. There is a reason to drop the Bears.Â
On the other hand, there is just as good a reason to be optimistic about the team's standing. Ben Johnson is clearly a good head coach, and we saw during his time with Detroit that the offense consistently improved as the players became more comfortable with it.Â
So, while they lost Moore and Dalman, most people would expect progress from Caleb Williams, Colston Loveland, Rome Odunze, and Luther Burden.Â
These are not just notable players; they are franchise cornerstones. Williams went first overall, Loveland and Odunze were taken in the top ten, and Burden was a high second-round pick who exploded as a rookie. These are game-changing talents.Â
When you add in Kyle Monangai and three starters returning on the offensive line, the steps forward should be able to outweigh the steps back taken by a loss of veterans. Beyond that, players such as Coby Bryant and Devin Bush are now specific players for the Dennis Allen system. They can still draft the defensive line and safety to get better scheme fits.
If the offensive firepower improves, and the defense just plays more on a string within the scheme, the Bears should easily remain in the top ten.Â

It will be interesting to see if player progression stalls in any way or if Allen chooses the wrong players. Otherwise, this ranking may be low.
