The Chicago Bears could still use some pieces to help them ensure that the 2025 season wasn't a fluke. With Vita Vea potentially on the trade block, why shouldn't the Bears inquire about the two-time Pro Bowl defensive tackle?
To recap, Vea requested a trade last week after he and the Buccaneers failed to come to an agreement on a new contract. Vea reportedly said he either wants to play for the Raiders or a California team, but hey, if the asking price is right, he'd probably be fine going to a competitive team. The Bears are just that.
Josh Crysler of The Pewter Plank, FanSided's Buccaneers site, came up with three possible Vita Vea trade packages that Tampa Bay wouldn't be able to turn down. The one that involved the Bears would be an absolute slam-dunk deal for Chicago.
This Vita Vea trade proposal would be a dream for Bears
In this proposal, Crysler had the Bears land Vea in exchange for Gervon Dexter, Cole Kmet, and a sixth-round draft pick. If this trade were truly proposed to Ryan Poles, he wouldn’t need to think twice.
As for the Bucs' perspective on it, here's what Crysler said.
"The Buccaneers would have to give this trade offer some serious consideration. Gervon Dexter Sr. is only 25 years old, and has recorded 11 sacks through his first two NFL seasons, giving Tampa Bay a young interior defender with pass rush upside to help replace some of Vea’s impact.
"Tight end also remains a bit of a question mark in Tampa Bay with a lack of proven depth behind Cade Otton. Cole Kmet would immediately upgrade the position and address one of the biggest weaknesses on the roster.
"If Tampa Bay could acquire both Dexter and Kmet while adding a Day 3 draft pick in the process, they’d have a difficult choice turning down that offer for Vea."
While parting ways with Dexter might end up hurting down the road, this would still be a pretty easy "yes" for the Bears. Dexter still hasn't fully broken out, so Chicago wouldn't miss anything there. He's also a free agent after this year, so why not ensure you get the most bang for your buck with him?
Trading away Kmet and only a sixth-rounder would both be no-brainer decisions for the Bears. Kmet is likely gone after this season anyway, despite being signed through the end of the 2027 season, so getting rid of him wouldn't be that big of a deal. Sixth-round picks are a crapshoot, so that wouldn't be a big loss either.

The Bears haven't been linked to Vita Vea as of this writing, but if this trade were proposed to Poles, one would think that he'd be chomping at the bit to get the deal done.
