Ever since the Chicago Bears gave linebacker Tremaine Edmunds permission to seek a trade to clear up cap space, there has been a lot of speculation about where he could land and what his compensation would be.
Edmunds reportedly has three teams interested in him: the Tennessee Titans, New York Giants, and Las Vegas Raiders. Bleacher Report writer Gary Davenport likes the Bears to send Edmunds and a 2027 fifth-round pick to the Titans in exchange for a 2026 fourth-round pick and a 2027 sixth-round pick.
“The Chicago Bears are coming off their best regular season since 2018—11 wins, an NFC North title and a win in the playoffs. But the Bears head into 2026 about $6.5 million upside-down against the salary cap, and per ESPN's Dan Graziano wrote from the scouting combine that the team has given veteran inside linebacker Tremaine Edmunds permission to seek a trade.”
“Edmunds logged 112 total tackles last year, but given that he's entering the last year of the four-year, $72 million contract he signed in 2023 and his cap hit this season of $17.4 million, he's not going to land a windfall in a trade. This is essentially a salary dump—one that would clear $15 million in cap space for the Bears.”
Tremaine Edmunds predicted to be traded to the Titans
Throughout his career, Edmunds has been a solid starting linebacker in the NFL, making the Pro Bowl twice in his first five years with the Buffalo Bills. Over the last three years in Chicago, though, he has recorded over 100 tackles, but no Pro Bowl selections to show for it.
That $15 million the Bears would save by sending Edmunds off will help them either save up money for a free agent they want to sign or make a trade they want to make. They are also looking to potentially offload DJ Moore, Tyson Bagent, and Gervon Dexter in trades as well.
When the Bears move on from Edmunds, it will open the door for them to re-sign D'Marco Jackson and look at the draft to add another linebacker. Chicago will look to get younger and develop there with T.J. Edwards most likely in the same situation next offseason.

Edmunds must leave the Bears' franchise soon enough to create that cap space, which will be huge for Chicago over the next month or so.
