Chicago Bears general manager Ryan Poles has alluded to the team being aggressive in the offseason with trades and moves, saying so when he spoke at the NFL Combine.

The Bears have already been busy in the news, trying to make cap space for these big moves, as the team is in the running to trade away DJ Moore, Tremaine Edmunds, Tyson Bagent, and Gervon Dexter. All of this could be so that Chicago gets itself in the running for Las Vegas Raiders defensive end Maxx Crosby. According to Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer, the Bears are among the teams that have called the Raiders about Crosby.

"We should know soon enough which path the Raiders are taking, with teams like Dallas, Chicago, Baltimore, Buffalo, New England, Philadelphia and the Rams keeping tabs on his availability."

Bears are in the conversation for Maxx Crosby

Crosby has posted 69.5 sacks in his seven-year NFL career with four of those seasons featuring 10 or more sacks. Just last year, he had 10 sacks in 15 games as he made his fifth straight Pro Bowl.

The struggles of the Bears' pass rush has been well documented with the team only getting 35 sacks on the season. They did not get the production they were hoping to get from last offseason's free agent signing Dayo Odeyingbo as he had one sack in the first half of the season before suffering a season-ending injury.

Chicago desperately needs someone to come in and help Montez Sweat, who had 10 sacks to lead the Bears. Austin Booker looks promising as he had a strong second half of the season with 4.5 sacks, but more consistency is needed off the edges.

Crosby is going to cost the Bears a pretty penny, likely at least two first-round picks. The good part about Chicago is that they proved last year they can find impact players outside the first round with Luther Burden, Ozzy Trapilo, and Kyle Monangai selected on Day 2 or 3.

The Bears will have to clear some cap space for a potential Crosby addition, but it still feels like a long shot for the team. That won't stop Poles from making the kind of move that could be the one that gets the Bears into the Super Bowl after an over 40-year drought.
