There are a lot of believers in Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams, given everything he has done over the past year.
Williams put up some stellar numbers, breaking franchise and NFL records and making some of the most insane throws ever. NBC NFL analyst Chris Simms ranked his top quarterbacks in the NFL, putting Williams at number six on his list.
"You know, if this was a different exercise and you told me I could draft one quarterback to start a franchise with right now, right, I would probably take Caleb Williams," Simms said. "Now I just don't think he's quite as good as some of the guys we haven't talked about yet, but he's going to be close. And s**t, would I be shocked if we were sitting here next year and I were like, 'Caleb Williams is the number one quarterback?' Absolutely not. He's got that type of talent."
Chris Simms thinks Caleb Williams could be number one in 2027
The signs are already there for Williams that he could be one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL this season and beyond. He threw for 3,942 yards and scored 31 total touchdowns to just seven interceptions while also completing an NFL record seven comeback and game-winning drives in 2025.
Late in the season, some of the throws that Williams was making were ones that most NFL quarterbacks don't have the ability to make. From his game-tying touchdown to Cole Kmet in the NFC Divisional Round against the Los Angeles Rams or the fourth and long to Rome Odunze against the Green Bay Packers in the NFC Wild Card, the throws he was making were truly amazing to watch.
The crazy part is that he is only in his third year in the NFL and the second under his genius, offensive-minded head coach Ben Johnson. That only means Williams will continue to grow as a quarterback and get better.
Not only that, but the talent level around him has so much potential to be elite. Williams has Odunze, Luther Burden III, and Colston Loveland to throw to over the next at least five years in Chicago.

The possibilities are endless for this Bears team and Williams, who will be in the Super Bowl conversation for a long time. If Williams can become more accurate as a passer, no one is going to stop this man from being a Hall of Fame caliber player.
