The pain of losing that NFC Divisional Round game against the Los Angeles Rams is still fresh in many Chicago Bears fans' minds, but that game-tying touchdown is still being talked about.
On fourth down with about 30 seconds left and down by seven points, Bears quarterback Caleb Williams did what he has done best this season and came up with an improbable throw off his back foot and connected with tight end Cole Kmet for the 14-yard touchdown to tie the game at 17-17, forcing overtime.
Kmet shared what was going through his head during the play and how he saw the ball when the other defenders couldn't.
“It just felt like a pop fly in center field," Kmet said via CHGO. "A lot of those DBs had a tough time tracking. I don't know what happened the guy that guarded me a little bit. Yeah, just felt like a pat-and-go situation we do every Friday. Felt like a pretty easy pitch and catch. It kind of felt like it was in slow motion. I can't believe Caleb."
Caleb Williams-Cole Kmet TD was still incredible to see despite the final result
This was an incredible moment for the Bears on multiple levels. First, Williams did it again with another big-time play to keep his team in the game. Also, it was huge for Kmet, who has been the subject of much trade talk during the last offseason and will be again this offseason.
While Kmet is still under contract, many believe that since rookie Colston Loveland has proven to be the number one tight end, there might not be room for Kmet to stay. Bears head coach Ben Johnson has typically liked having two solid tight ends in an offense, so Kmet could still survive the offseason.
Williams wasn't able to lead another game-winning drive, but he has certainly proved that he more than earned his "The Iceman" nickname with how he played in that game. There will be things for him to clean up in the offseason, but Williams looks to be one of the top quarterbacks in the NFL entering the 2026 season.

It's going to be a busy offseason for the Bears, as they now have to build not just a playoff team but a Super Bowl-contending one. Williams and Kmet's play could be seen as the spark to drive the team to go all-in during the offseason.
