The Chicago Bears' 2026 schedule is about as tough as any in the NFL, prompting many to wonder what record they will finish with.
Some believe it might be so bad that the Bears don't even make the postseason. FOX Sports host Colin Cowherd was on his show when he talked about his belief that the Bears will be just fine for two reasons.
'If you have a great coach and a great quarterback, schedules matter less. Now, you may go from 12 wins to 10 or 11 to nine because your schedule is really tough and you have back-to-back long road trips and you have a couple of injuries, but I really think schedules really affect average teams or slightly above average or slightly below. I think the Bears have an A++ coach and an A++ quarterback."
Ben Johnson and Caleb Williams will be the reason Bears make the postseason
It's a unique situation for the Bears to have a good coach and quarterback who can help the team make the postseason. Chicago hasn't had something close to that since Jay Cutler and Lovie Smith back in the 2010s.
An argument could be made that the Bears are in much better shape right now with Johnson and Williams than with Cutler and Smith. Johnson and Williams are both young and will be together for a long time, as they have shown great growth together in Year 1, culminating in the 11-6 finish to the 2025 campaign.

This is no doubt a tough schedule, but the combination of Johnson and Williams is so good that they will always be in the playoff conversation. Missing the postseason would be a reach for the Bears as they have a chance to be Super Bowl contenders in 2026.
