The Chicago Bears have a long history of selecting incredible defensive players with different mindsets, and they might have found one who fits right into what they want to do.
With their last pick of the 2026 NFL Draft, the Bears used their sixth-round selection on Georgia Tech defensive tackle Jordan van den Berg. Last season, Berg had 42 tackles, was second in the nation in tackles for loss with 11, and had three sacks, as well as being an All-ACC selection.
Berg's former head coach, Yellow Jackets' Brent Key, spoke about the defensive tackle and shared an interesting sentence.
"He's the most polite person, but then on the field, he will absolutely snatch your soul out of you."
Watch out Bears fans, Jordan van den Berg appears to be the real deal
Going into his rookie season, Berg will have an interesting journey, as his sixth-round selection has been praised by draft experts. They have shared that the Bears got a steal and will be a good fit for defensive coordinator Dennis Allen's scheme.
The depth at the tackle position is going to make it very tough for Berg to make the roster with Gervon Dexter and Grady Jarrett as the projected starters. It's who Berg will have to challenge with behind them that will make it tough with James Lynch, Neville Gallimore, and Kentavius Street.
Berg is not guaranteed a spot on the roster as he will no doubt have to work for it. His big advantage is that he is great at stopping the run, which was a problem for the Bears last year. Whether he can make an impact as a pass rusher might also help in determining whether he can make the roster or not.

Regardless, the defensive tackle position only got better for the Bears and will continue to look good thanks to Berg's arrival.
