The Chicago Bears may not have even gotten through the first wave of draft celebrations before Colston Loveland started acting like a veteran in the locker room. Dillon Thieneman said fellow first-round pick Colston Loveland reached out to him immediately after he was selected. Early chemistry is an excellent thing to hear about, whether that be on or off the field.
Thieneman spoke with the media after being selected, where he informed the greater football media how quickly Loveland reached out to him. Thieneman was even asked what Loveland had to say.
“Yeah, Colston, Colston texted me, I think right away. I'm sure someone else has texted me. I haven't been able to go through them all. He’s like, ‘Yo, glad to have you on the team. Can't wait to get to work. Let me know if you need anything.’”

Colston Loveland wastes no time connecting with fellow first-rounder
From the day he got here almost a year ago, Loveland has been exemplary both on and off the field. Players connecting with one another off the field only strengthens their on-field connection, and it sounds as though Loveland wasted no time.
Being drafted in the first round is a big deal, and though all of these guys may display massive confidence, one could argue that everything happens so fast it can be overwhelming. Thieneman receiving an immediate warm welcome from new teammates before even meeting one another can make a seriously big first impression. The former first-round pick reaching out to the next years first rounder also makes for a nice passing of the torch moment.
For a few seasons now, Ryan Poles and the front office have been doing their best to establish a sustainable player base that can carry this team into the future, and selecting Thieneman only furthers that goal. With Loveland as one of those core pieces, an early connection between these guys is a seriously good sign.

It’s a small moment, but one that offers a glimpse into how this rookie class is approaching things from the start. Early communication like this won’t decide games, but it can help lay the groundwork for what’s ahead. For a team still building its identity, that kind of buy-in is a step in the right direction.
