The Chicago Bears were dealt devastating news about not having their starting running back, D'Andre Swift, for their Week 9 matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals, leading to a final roster move.

Chicago first announced that they were elevating running back Brittain Brown from the practice squad. The Bears also announced linebacker Amen Ogbongbemiga was downgraded from questionable to out as he will remain on the Reserve/Injured Designated for Return list with his knee injury.

Swift is out with the groin injury as well as running back Roschon Johnson, who is out with a back injury. This leaves the Bears' backfield with rookie seventh-round pick Kyle Monangai making his first career start, Travis Homer, and Brown.

Ogbongbemiga had his 21-day practice window opened recently and is still working his way back into playing. He was a full participant in practice this week.

Monangai gets his opportunity to make his first career start and show the Bears that he can be the featured back in the offense going forward. There have been a lot of mock drafts that have the Bears looking at selecting a running back to replace Swift, but Monangai might be able to prove they don't need to do that.

Brown had a nice preseason for Chicago as one of the leading rushers on the team, but he has spent most of the season on the practice squad. He will most likely be the third back and play special teams, with Homer taking the backup job.

Homer's role in the offense will be as a third-down back who can contribute in the passing game. Monangai will be more of a downhill runner, taking carries on first and second down.

Chicago might be throwing the ball more with Caleb Williams against the Bengals, but a great opportunity for the Bears to see what the future looks like with Monangai.
