It just doesn't seem to be getting better.

Nobody wants to overreact to bad news coming from just three days of training camp, but it might be time to start having a conversation about Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams.

There were several reports coming out of Bears training camp on day three that Williams did not have the greatest practice. BearReport reporter Zack Pearson was one of those who had shared details on Williams throwing two interceptions back-to-back.

"Bad 7 on 7 drill in the red zone. Caleb Williams picked off on back to back plays.

First one at goal line to DJ Moore was picked off by Jaquan Brisker. Looked like ball was tipped or batted in air. Believe Terell Smith in coverage.

Next play was a bad throw and decision as TJ Edwards picked it off."

Things appearently are not going well for Williams and the Bears' first team

Bad days happen. It's common, but the Bears' first time offense just doesn't seem to be in sync at the moment.

There have been discussions of Bears head coach Ben Johnson kicking the first-team offense off the field for not lining up correctly. Williams seems to have some nice moments, but has made a fair share of mistakes, including the two interceptions on day three of practice.

A lot of it has to do with the team trying to learn Johnson's unique offense and executing it at a high level that he expects. It's a work in progress at this point, but something will have to change if the team wants to be legitimate contenders.

Chicago's defense seems to be in a better position early on with guys like Tremaine Edmunds playing well, and credit to Edwards and Brisker for making those interceptions on Williams. That seems like a unit that might be in good shape going into the preseason.

Of course, the media will focus on all the bad things happening in Chicago, as every mistake is magnified by 100. That's because expectations are high for the Bears as they have gone four years in a row without a postseason appearance and this was an offense that was ranked last in 2024.

The hope is that the team will perform better in the next week or two with more time under them. This shouldn't discourage Bears fans from being excited about what Williams and Johnson can do together in the future. It's just a rough patch that will eventually come together.
