The Chicago Bears entered their matchup with the New Orleans Saints with a few things going in a very, very good direction. Of course, there was none bigger than their 3-game winning streak. And, not only did the Bears extend that streak to four games with a win over New Orleans, but defensive coordinator Dennis Allen got himself a little sweet revenge.
Allen had spent the previous decade with New Orleans and most recently had gone from being the defensive coordinator to their head coach. After being fired, though, he came to Chicago where he took on Ben Johnson's defense. And, in sweet fashion, his Bears defense did, indeed, hand him a platter of revenge in the team's 26-14 victory.
The Bears' defense took the ball away four times against his former team on Sunday, coming up with three interceptions and a fumble recovery. The sweetest part came on New Orleans' last offensive drive, though.
Dennis Allen's revenge game ended exactly how he would've liked in a Bears win over New Orleans
As the Saints tried to make something of the game late in the fourth quarter, New Orleans quarterback Spencer Rattler saw his pass tipped by linebacker T.J. Edwards. The ball ended up landing in the hands of fellow linebacker Tremaine Edmunds for the team's third pick of the day off Rattler.
For that to be the last offensive play of the day, for the Saints, was simply poetic. It couldn't have been planned better if Allen had tried.
The Bears' defense also came up with four sacks on the day, getting after Rattler on several occasions. Rattler ended the day with a net 209 passing yards but what might have been most impressive was the underlying theme that plagued Chicago earlier this season.
The run defense was stout in this one. For the second-straight week, Chicago's run defense looked improved. The Saints only managed 44 yards rushing on 17 carries. Meanwhile, the Bears continued running the ball well and amassed 222 yards on the ground themselves.

Allen might not have been cut out to be a head coach, as New Orleans told him last year. But, going back to doing what he does best seemed to have worked out well on this day, and against his former team, nonetheless.
