What a run it has been over the last three games for Chicago Bears defensive end Montez Sweat, who is dominating defenses left and right with his play.

Over the last three games, Sweat has racked up a sack in each of those matchups, while adding four quarterback hits, two pass deflections, and a forced fumble. While he has been a force to be reckoned with during his incredible run, Bears defensive coordinator Dennis Allen made sure to give Sweat his flowers, while also acknowledging that there's still more he can do.

"He’s been performing really well for us all around – run game, passing game. So, it’s good to see him get the stats to go along with it. A lot of times, there’s some hidden production. ... I still think there’s a lot of meat on the bone in terms of what we can get out of that."

Sweat still has plenty of work to do to get back into 2023 Pro Bowl form

When Sweat was traded to the Bears in 2023, he made a bit of history, as he led the Washington Commanders and Bears in sacks that season, with 6.5 sacks with Washington and six with the Bears. He earned his first Pro Bowl selection of his career and made Chicago believe he can be the next great pass rusher.

Sweat is still working through his $98 million contract extension he signed with the team, but has not quite lived up to it. Last year, he struggled with just 12 quarterback hits and 5.5 sacks on the season, leaving many to start questioning whether he deserved the contract or not.

This year, it was still a slow start for Sweat, as he had only three quarterback hits and one sack through the first five games. Bears fans were not happy with the lack of pass rush from a guy whose only reason for getting $98 million was to get to the quarterback.

It appears as though something has changed in the last three games, as Sweat is starting to get some of that swagger back and is now dominating defenses that haven't been seen since 2023. He looks faster, stronger, and purely dominant.

Chicago needs him to stay in that form for the rest of the season if they want to compete for the playoffs and the NFC North. They can't afford for him to revert back to the first five games, as that could be catastrophic to their chances of getting there.
