The Chicago Bears are coming off an incredible season, and general manager Ryan Poles wants to make some moves to improve their chances of not only reaching the NFC Championship Game but also the Super Bowl. One of his more surprising moves of the offseason thus far was trading away wide receiver DJ Moore to the Buffalo Bills in exchange for a 2026 second-round pick.

Poles met with reporters on Thursday to discuss the team's free agency moves so far. Poles brought up the Moore trade and revealed that his son wasn't happy with him. Poles revealed that Moore sent a video to his son to tell him not to be mad at his father.

"DJ's one of my favorite players, will always be one of my favorite players. I knew that was going to be tough for our organization. I've mentioned this before, my son is a passionate of the Chicago Bears. He was not very happy with me at all. I think it was cool DJ sent him a video telling him not to be mad at dad, it's part of the business," said Poles.

Ryan Poles reveals classy gesture DJ Moore made to his son after trade

An incredibly classy gesture by Moore. Even on his way out, he made sure that Poles' son wasn't angry about the trade.

Moore was one of the first big acquisitions that Poles made when he became general manager of the Bears. In 2023, Poles made the gigantic trade with the Carolina Panthers to give up the first-overall pick while receiving a 2024 first-round pick (which became the No. 1 overall pick), a 2025 second-round pick, and Moore.

In 2023, Moore recorded 96 receptions for 1,364 yards and eight touchdowns on 136 targets, making an immediate impact for the team. In 2024, Moore hauled in 98-of-140 targets for 966 yards and six touchdowns. This past season, Moore's production dipped. Granted, it could be attributed to the emergence of tight end Colston Loveland and wide receiver Luther Burden III. Moore caught 50 passes for 682 yards and six touchdowns on 85 targets.

Given that the team has Loveland and Burden playing huge roles as rookies and with Rome Odunze on the roster, the Bears ultimately decided to move on from Moore. They did do him a solid by trading him to the Bills, who are expected to contend for the Super Bowl in what is a weak AFC. Not only that, but he reunites with former Carolina Panthers offensive coordinator and current Bills head coach Joe Brady.

Even though Moore is no longer affiliated with the Bears, he did his former GM a solid by telling Poles' son not to be too mad at him.
