After the stunning news out of the Windy City, the Chicago Bears faithful are still trying to catch their breath from what came out of it.
The Bears executed a trade with the Buffalo Bills that was the first massive domino effect of the offseason. Chicago sent star wide receiver DJ Moore to the Bills, but nothing else was known about what kind of compensation was a part of it.
ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter answered that question as the Bears received a 2026 second-round pick for Moore. Chicago sent over a 2026 fifth-round pick with Moore to Buffalo.
Bears get a second-round pick from the Bills
This is about as good a compensation as the Bears could have imagined for Moore. There was concern that, because his contract was so large, a Day 3 pick would be what Chicago would have to settle for. That wasn't the case.
The reality is, Moore is still a very good wide receiver, as he is 28 and just had over 1,300 yards in a single season back in 2023. Where Moore struggled was that Caleb Williams was distributing the ball around to other receivers, so Moore got lost in the shuffle.
Last season, the Bears had four wide receivers with over 600 yards on the year. Those guys included Colston Loveland, Rome Oduzne, Luther Burden, and Moore. While Loveland led the team, Moore was second on the team with 682 yards and six touchdowns.

This trade is a win-win for both teams: the Bills get their number one receiver for quarterback Josh Allen, while the Bears save money and add ammunition for the 2026 NFL Draft and potential future trades. Bears fans just have to wait and see what's next.
