Super Bowl 60 is all set, and while it will hurt to not see the Chicago Bears in it, the pain might be worse to see a team in there that Bears fans were hoping wouldn't be in it.
The Seattle Seahawks took down the Los Angeles Rams 31-27 to win the NFC. On the AFC side, the New England Patriots won a defensive battle over the Denver Broncos, 10-7.
That Patriots win stings the most for Bears fans, as New England starting quarterback Drake Maye accomplished something Chicago fans were hoping Caleb Williams would do first. Maye is the first quarterback from the 2024 NFL Draft class to make the Super Bowl; a class that includes Williams, Jayden Daniels, Michael Penix Jr., J.J. McCarthy, and Bo Nix.
Caleb Williams will have to watch Drake Maye do what Bears fans wanted him first to do
No matter what happened in the AFC Championship game, it was going to be either Maye or Nix making the first Super Bowl for the 2024 NFL Draft quarterback class out of the passers who went in the top 12. Due to Nix's injury in the AFC Divisional Round against the Buffalo Bills, Maye was the only one of the two to be able to actually play in the Super Bowl.
Williams had quite the season himself and came close to reaching those guys' levels after leading the Bears to an 11-6 record, winning the NFC North, and advancing to the playoffs. He finished the regular season with 3,942 yards and 27 touchdowns to seven interceptions while rushing for 388 yards and three more scores in 17 games.
After what happened in 2025, it appears that Williams is close to making that same dream that Maye has happen soon. Williams broke an NFL record for the most comebacks and game-winning drives in the regular and postseason with seven.

If there was any Bears quarterback in the last 40 years that had a chance to lead the franchise to a Super Bowl title, it's no doubt Williams who has the best chance of making that happen. Chicago has all the tools in place to make that happen, and Williams has the skill set to make some history with the Bears, but unfortunately, the Bears will have to wait another year to see that dream come true.
