Everyone wants Bears to potentially sign 8-time Pro Bowler (but it won't happen)

Stop trying to push it to happen.

Every Chicago Bears fan wants the team to still get a free agent edge rusher of some kind, so that Montez Sweat can get some help with the pass rush. There's one name that keeps being brought up as an option.

FOX Sports NFL reporter Ben Arthur looked at the current free agents and picked the best spots for them to land. Arthur likes edge rusher Cameron Jordan to land with the Chicago Bears.

"Following the draft, the Bears could still use more depth at edge rusher behind Montez Sweat. The 36-year-old Jordan, who had 10.5 sacks last season with the Saints, spent a decade with Chicago defensive coordinator Dennis Allen in New Orleans (2015-24)."

Media keeps pushing Cameron Jordan to Bears narrative

Jordan has spent his entire 15-year NFL career with the New Orleans Saints and has racked up 132 sacks, including seven seasons in which he recorded 10 or more. He's made eight Pro Bowls and was selected to be on the All-Pro team.

The Bears don't really seem like they are in a big hurry to sign an edge rusher in free agency and seem happy with who they have. They refused to select one in the 2026 NFL Draft, so that was a telling sign of how they feel about the position.

During the offseason, there were reports that Austin Booker was seen as a difference-maker by the organization. Despite Dayo Odeyingbo missing half the season with his injury and only getting one sack last year, he still has a chance to be a reliable rotational player.

If the Bears really wanted Jordan, he would have been signed by now, but that doesn't seem to be the case. Most likely, Jordan will return to New Orleans and finish his career there.
