Final Chicago Bears injury report for Week 9 has Kyler Gordon hope
In releasing their final injury report for their Week 9 game against the Arizona Cardinals, the Chicago Bears offered some hope that Kyler Gordon may be able to play.
For the first time since Gordon suffered his hamstring injury against the Jacksonville Jaguars, he was able to practice. Even though Gordon was able to practice on Friday, he's not a lock to play in Sunday's game against the Cardinals. Given the Bears' struggles against mobile quarterbacks in the past, Gordon's presence is needed. Given how often the Bears play in nickel coverage, Gordon essentially serves as the strong-side linebacker in the Bears' defense. If Gordon is able to play, his matchup against Cardinals' quarterback Kyler Murray will be one of the key matchups of the game.
Gordon and Matt Eberflus talked about Gordon's injury on Friday.
The Bears will be without Jaquan Brisker for a third consecutive game on Sunday. The safety has yet to practice since suffering a concussion against the Carolina Panthers on October 6. Eberflus did provide an update on Brisker while speaking with reporters on Friday.
We now have confirmation that Braxton Jones will not be the Bears' left tackle on Sunday as he has been ruled out with his knee injury. The Bears have an open spot on their 53-man roster with the expectation that Larry Borom will be activated from IR on Saturday. The expectation is that Borom will serve as the left tackle for Sunday's game against the Cardinals. If Teven Jenkins is unable to play on Sunday, Nate Davis would probably be back in the mix with the starting offensive line.
The concern meter did tick up slightly with Montez Sweat not being able to practice on Friday. However, that may be a case of the Bears' limiting Sweat's reps during the week to ensure he is able to play in some capacity on Sunday.
