The Chicago Bears have returned to practice field following their bye week last week but there remains some concern regarding the health of their secondary.

Prior to the bye week, safety Jaquan Brisker was in concussion protocol while cornerback Kyler Gordon suffered a hamstring injury during the team's victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars in London.

Before returning to their normal game week operation on Wednesday, the Bears held a walkthrough practice on Monday. In a simulated injury report, Bears' head coach Matt Eberflus told reporters Brisker and Gordon would not have practiced.

On Wednesday, neither Brisker or Gordon were able to participate in practice.

Thursday now becomes an important day for each player. If neither player is able to practice on Thursday, that would be a sign that the Bears will be without two key members of their secondary against the Washington Commanders on Sunday.

While speaking about Brisker on Monday, Eberflus revealed that the safety as a couple more steps to clear before he is removed from concussion protocol. Eberflus did not expand on those steps when speaking with reporters on Wednesday.

If there is a silver lining for the injuries the Bears have in their secondary, there seems to be momentum toward Jayden Daniels not playing for the Commanders on Sunday.

While Brisker and Gordon did not practice on Wednesday, several injured Bears players did return to the field. The designated-to-return window opened for running back Travis Homer and offensive lineman Larry Borom. The timing of each player being designated to return is intriguing considering the recent trade rumors surrounding Khalil Herbert and Nate Davis. Even though Herbert and Davis have been phased out of the Bears' offensive gameplan, each player serves as depth. The Bears likely wouldn't want to trade from that depth unless they had replacements available on the roster.

In addition to Borom and Homer, the Bears also saw Tyrique Stevenson, Scott Daly, Zacch Pickens, and Terell Smith return to the practice field.
