The Chicago Bears might be focused on multiple things going into the offseason, but they are still signing players who could be considered sleepers in the future.
Chicago announced that they have signed defensive lineman Jamree Kromah to a reserve/future deal with the Bears. Kromah originally signed with the Bears after going undrafted in 2024.
After a short stint with the Bears in 2024, he was with the New England Patriots in September of the same year for an even shorter time before rejoining the Bears in October and has since stayed in Chicago. Kromah has not appeared in an NFL game.
Jamree Kromah might be playing his last snaps in the NFL in the 2026 preseason
The sad reality for an NFL player is that the average career lasts about three years. Kromah will be hitting that mark as he needs to make an impression on the Bears now.
This training camp and preseason are going to be so important to him to show that he can fit into Dennis Allen's defense. Chicago is going to be going through some transition on defense as they will be looking for pass rushers off the edge to step up.
If there was a season to have a breakout performance, Kromah must do it in 2026. The Bears had only 35 sacks in 2025, tied for 22nd in the NFL, with only six other teams having fewer.
It won't be easy for Kromah, as he will have to compete with the likes of Montez Sweat, Austin Booker, and Dayo Odeyingbo, who will be the favorites. Those are just the starters, with most likely a new group of edge rushers about to enter the picture from the draft and free agency.
