I know, I know, I know ... Chicago Bears fans, you're already having flashbacks. Most of this fan base shudders at the thought of Matt Nagy, but it's OK now. Ben Johnson is here to stay.
As for Nagy, though, he has since gone back to the Kansas City Chiefs. And now, after an underwhelming season for Kansas City, Nagy is set to get a second shot at head coaching ... maybe?
Somehow, some way, Nagy is a name to watch in this year's coaching cycle. And, as of right now, he's already gotten a request.
The Tennessee Titans have officially requested a head coaching interview with Nagy.
Yes, the Titans.
Woof. There's no other way to put it, but to say that Nagy taking the Titans job would have even worse results than he had in Chicago.
Matt Nagy would confirm the end of his own head coaching life in the NFL if he landed with the Titans
Maybe this is way too biased, but why on earth would the Titans even want to entertain the idea of hiring Nagy? Did they not see how his first stint as a head coach turned out?
Look, aside from Nagy's horrific play-calling at times, there were so many deeper issues. There was clearly a lack of self-confidence in how he spoke to the media. He was never -- I repeat, never -- sure of himself. The way he answered questions was, in fact, contrary to the very definition of answering a question.
Nagy's infamous "word salad" answers will live in forever in the minds of Bears fans.
Did he suddenly figure out how to address the media? The deeper question: did he do some radical self-discovery over the last few years and somehow figure out how to command a locker room, let alone a media room?
Nagy was so incredibly ill-prepared for the Bears' coaching job to begin with. After such a lowly year in Kansas City, why would the Titans even think he's a solid option? Did we all watch the same Chiefs season this year? Did we all see just how incompetent that offense looked, and with Patrick Mahomes under center?
It is purely laughable that Nagy would get this chance, but coming into a Titans franchise that needs a lot of help all but guarantees his own fate.
Cam Ward showed some promise down the stretch, but the Titans have zero answers at wide receiver and running back for the long term. Their offensive line still needs work.

And the defense? Same thing.
This looks like a disaster waiting to happen, but at least it's not in Chicago this time.
