The United Football League (UFL) has become the premier place for football players to play and try to revive their careers in hopes of returning to the NFL, with the Chicago Bears having plenty of those players in the league.

Former Bears quarterback Austin Reed has had Bears fans' attention after a nice two-year run in the preseason in Chicago. Reed is now leading the Dallas Renegades as their starting quarterback, and after a strong start to the season, things have taken a downward turn.

He started the season with nine touchdowns and one interception in the first three games, all wins by the Renegades. Since then, Dallas has been on a three-game losing streak as Reed has thrown four touchdowns to six interceptions. His total season stats through six games are 56.9% completion rate, 1,360 yards, 13 touchdowns, and seven interceptions.

Austin Reed's rough three-game stretch might cost him an NFL opportunity

Bears fans were excited about Reed's hot start, as it gave them an interesting option to be the team's future QB2. Currently, backup Tyson Bagent was a part of trade rumors during the offseason, and some thought that if he got moved, then Reed could get signed after the UFL season to compete and stay in the future.

The good news is Reed has four weeks to turn things around and get back on track. He will need to step up and play better down the stretch because, at this point, he is hurting his chances of returning to the NFL.

It'll be interesting to see how Reed ends the season, as Bears fans will be watching in anticipation to see how he does. If things don't get better, Chicago can at least hang on to the idea that they have Bagent and Keenum there behind Caleb Williams and give up on the Reed dream.
