Well, it finally happened with Jaylon Johnson, but is it the end of his 2025 season?

Sources tell NFL insider Ian Rapoport that the Bears are going to be placing Johnson on IR with a groin injury. Rapoport stated that Johnson will be out indefinitely, but didn't mention whether he would be out for the rest of the 2025 season.

Johnson missed all of training camp and the Bears' Week 1 loss to the Minnesota Vikings with the groin injury. He was able to at least practice the week of the Vikings game and did return last week against the Detroit Lions.

During the first half, Johnson made a great diving play to deflect a Jared Goff pass, but Johnson was hurt on the play. He and Bears head coach Ben Johnson confirmed that this was a new injury, and it was already reported earlier in the week that he would be out indefinitely. Jaylon Johnson finished the Lions game with two tackles.

While the news was not wanting to be heard, it was bound to happen

It honestly was a bit of a surprise that it took the Bears this long to make the move to place Johnson on IR. They spent the week evaluating the injury and making sure they are taking the right course of action with it.

Chicago is losing a back-to-back Pro Bowler in a secondary that was shredded up by Goff for over 334 yards in the 52-21 loss to the Lions. Of the line of injuries the Bears are currently dealing with, this is the most brutal one to take.

Nahshon Wright now takes over for Johnson full-time after collecting a pick-six in the Vikings game two weeks ago. Wright has actually played pretty well, but the Bears will turn to Tyrique Stevenson to be CB1, but he has had some major, major issues early in the year.

The Bears' first challenge without Johnson indefinitely is the Dallas Cowboys in Week 3. A touch matchup for Wright and Stevenson as they go up against CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens.
