After a promising start to the NFC Divisional Round game against the Los Angeles Rams, Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams certainly gave the fan base a massive scare.
On fourth down of the opening drive, Williams threw a pass that ended up being intercepted by the Rams near the goal line. After the play, Williams was seen jogging off the field, shaking his hand and appearing to hold one of his fingers.
Also on the play, Williams appeared to be hit late on the pass, and the referees might have missed a roughing the passer penalty. NBC NFL rules analyst Terry McAulay shared his thoughts on the play during the broadcast.
"Yeah Mike I believe it is. Forcible contact to the head or neck area is subject to roughing the passer."
Caleb Williams banged up on the opening drive
This is a nightmare start for the Bears as they can't afford to have their starting quarterback injured in the game. Williams has shown a lot of toughness in his two-year NFL career, having never missed a game.
If the finger injury continues to concern Williams and he is forced to the sidelines, Tyson Bagent would have to take over for him. Case Keenum is the third quarterback on the depth chart.
Bears fans should expect Williams back on the field for the game, but it is worth monitoring how he performs throughout. It could very much affect the way he throws the football.

The hope is that Williams will be able to finish the game and lead his team to a massive win to advance in the playoffs. Bears fans will have to wait and see how the rest of the game goes for Williams.
