Devastating news hit around Chicago online quicker than a virus from a cyber attack as the Bears have lost their top player for what could be the rest of the season.
NFL insider Ian Rapoport was told by sources that the Bears were placing cornerback Jaylon Johnson on IR as he deals with his groin injury. His return to the field is unknown as it is being classified as being out "indefinitely."
Johnson has been a two-time Pro Bowler for the Bears as he only played in one game this season. After missing all of training camp and Week 1 against the Vikings with the groin injury, Johnson suffered a new injury that now jeopardizes his 2025 campaign.
This now opens the door for a replacement on the Bears roster. The Chicago Tribune's Brad Biggs reported that it will be defensive end Tanoh Kpassagnon who will earn the spot.
Taking the place of CB Jaylon Johnson on the 53-man roster will be DE Tanoh Kpassagnon, who is being signed from the practice squad.

Bears showed their hand on what they are focused on with their defense
Kpassagnon has actually been impressive through the first two games of the regular season as a backup on the defensive line. He has racked up three tackles, two quarterback hits, one tackle for loss, and one sack this season.
The Bears have struggled mightily to get to the quarterback this season as they have had nine quarterback hits and three sacks, most of that coming from the Week 1 matchup with the Vikings. Kpassagnon comes in and can add some depth after the Bears have already dealt with their first two games without Austin Booker on the field as he is on IR for the first four games.
Some might think that the Bears would use that roster spot to replace Johnson with another cornerback, but Chicago needs a spark on the defensive line. The defense struggled to get to Lions quarterback Jared Goff last week after losing by 31 points.
Chicago has Nahshon Wright to replace Johnson in the starting lineup. Kpassagnon will be able to come in and help Montez Sweat and Dayo Odeyingbo, giving them some relief in the lineup.

The Bears need to get some pass rushing help to go up against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 3 as it is a must-win situation for Chicago.
