After getting slammed with Rome Odunze and Luther Burden III being out with injuries, Chicago Bears fans will be sleeping a lot better one night before they face the Green Bay Packers for the NFC North division lead in Week 16.
ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reported the Bears will be activating linebacker Tremaine Edmunds from the injured reserve list. Edmunds suffered a groin injury last month and has missed the last four games.
In 10 games this season, Edmunds has racked up 89 tackles, nine pass deflections, four interceptions, three tackles for loss, three quarterback hits, and one sack. He was leading the team in tackles and interceptions before getting hurt.
Edmunds appears to be one step closer to being back for Packers game
What a time for Edmunds to come back as the team needs him the most for a critical game against Green Bay. After losing 28-21 in the first game two weeks ago, Edmunds potentially comes to the rescue to help the Bears.
Keep in mind that even though Edmunds is going to be active, it doesn't mean he will play. Bears fans learned this lesson the hard way with Odunze, who was active in the 31-3 win over the Cleveland Browns in Week 15, but did not play.
The Bears are so deep at linebacker in a position that before the season got a lot of concerned looks from fans and media members. Thanks to D'Marco Jackson stepping up in Edmunds' absence, Chicago was able to hold strong at linebacker.
Chicago will also have T.J. Edwards, Noah Sewell, and Ruben Hyppolite II. This means that because they are so deep, if Edmunds ends up playing, there will be a rotation of linebackers in the game.
