He's been great.

The Chicago Bears' revamped offensive line does not get enough credit for the job they have done over the last year in helping this franchise improve.

Last offseason, the Bears added left guard Joe Thuney, center Drew Dalman, and right guard Jonah Jackson, who instantly transformed this offense. Chicago became the third-ranked rushing offense in the NFL, had a top-10 offensive unit after being one of the worst in 2024, and went from allowing 68 sacks in 2024 to 24 in 2025.

While Dalman has since shockingly retired, Jackson and Thuney are still holding up their end of the bargain on the line. Jackson spoke with the media, praising Thuney for his work over the past year.

"He's the same guy every single day," Jackson said via The Athletic's Dan Wiederer. "Probably the most consistent person outside of Ben that I have seen in the league. He handles his business. He's a grown-up."

Jonah Jackson with some high praise for Joe Thuney

It's hard not to give Thuney the kind of praise he deserves after having arguably the best season of any lineman in the NFL. Pro Football Focus had Thuney as the fifth-ranked interior offensive lineman in the NFL with a 79.4 overall grade, as he allowed just 15 pressures and one quarterback hit in 686 pass -blocking snaps. He was named as a Pro Bowler, All-Pro selection, and the first lineman to win Protector of the Year.

Thuney was everything for this Bears' offensive line, playing and starting in every game and helping them when they needed it most. He filled in at the last second as the starting left tackle in the NFC Divisional Round loss to the Los Angeles Rams after Ozzy Trapilo's injury in the playoff win over the Green Bay Packers the previous week.

There are so many reasons to believe that Thuney is going to end up being a future Hall of Famer after winning multiple Super Bowls with the New England Patriots and the Kansas City Chiefs. Most importantly, though, is how consistently and reliably he stays on the field and leads the teams he needs to lead.

Thuney is on the path to being one of the best offensive guards that has ever played the game, and the Bears hope he has plenty more years to prove it.
